Fixed Prosthesis
The fixed prosthesis (or fixed denture) is the replacement for missing teeth lost through decay or similar reasons.
The prosthesis is secured to your implants with screws and cannot be removed for a daily cleaning. In a typical fixed bridge one or more supporting teeth which are located on either side of the span of missing teeth are used to suspend a row of false teeth.
A fixed bridge design which have abutment supporting teeth on just one side of the span of missing teeth is referred to as a cantilever fixed bridge.
There are two major parts in this type of prosthesis:
Please be informed that the bar is the element which supports the teeth and the attachments on the implants.
The dental laboratory is in charge to position the teeth and pink acrylic on the foreseen bar. As in any prosthesis the teeth and acrylic are maintenance and are subject to wear and tear. In any case they are replaceable.
It is important to understand that while the teeth and acrylic of your denture can be reproduced, your bar will remain the same (after repolishing).
