Conscious sedation
For patients who suffer from dental anxiety our dental offices offer sedation dentistry. It is quite normal for a person to feel unconfortable when placed in a dental chair.
If you are afraid to go to the dentist it is really important that you tell our doctor about this because hiding this kind of fear can lead to a much more unpleasant experience.
It is an advantage for patients who have a strong gag reflex or require multiple dental procedures.
Our dentist will discuss and plan with you the dental procedure carefully. The purpose for conscious sedation is to produce a state of relaxation and pain relief.
The patients comfort and care is a top priority for our sedation dentist Dr. Sara Ricci. She takes care of the patient while our dentist carries out the dental treatment.
The conscious sedation will help to take away your dentist fear when it is time to go to the dental appointment.
You can have the beautiful smile and the good dental health you have always dreamed of.
It is proved that you won't feel any discomfort and likely won't remember the treatment itself.
During the surgery monitoring devices will be attached to the patient. These devices monitor the breathing, blood pressure and heart rate. This increases the safety of the procedure.
Before and after the treatment it is important that there is someone who drives the patient to and from the dental appointment.
It should not be allowed to the patient to drive either the bike, motocycle or car after the surgery.
It is also not suggested to take the bus as there might occur slight problems in getting in and out (by taking the stairs).
The effects last one hour o may persist up to a day.
Conscious Sedation is not a regular anesthesia...
The patient who receives conscious sedation is still able to speak and respond to speech or touch during the dental treatment.
The conscious sedation gives the patient the possibility to achieve a relaxed state during treatment because it minimizes pain and discomfort.
The patient has a proper monitoring of conscious sedation by our qualified provider Dr. Sara Ricci. She monitors the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, oxygen level and alertness during and after the procedure. Dr. Sara Ricci has no other responsibilities during the procedure and remains with the patient at all times.
Please be informed that the sedatives can be administered before, during or after procedures by mouth, inhalation or injection.
Your treatment will always be a profoundly calming experience because the conscious sedation will take away your fear.
It might happen that you have a brief period of side effects such as headache, hangover, nausea and vomiting. During the treatment it will be indicated if you have such a side effect as vomiting through (gagreflex).
The Pulse Oximeter.the patient is monitored throughout and after the procedure.
