Make a wish and get a beautiful bright smile TODAY!

Teeth whitening is one of the hottest cosmetic dental procedures today. It lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration.

Most of us take enormous care in having great hair, cured finger nails... why not having the perfect teeth. Confidece comes form having an attractive smile. Dull teeth might be whitened and bleached.

Whitening improves the appearance of your teeth at much less cost and inconvenience than other techniques.

Just like we all have different hair and skin color, people also have different tooth color... It happens that some teeth are more yellow than others, while others yellow with aging. Your natural tooth color can also be affected by many factors.

Every day our teeth get worse as a thin coating forms on your teeth and it picks up stains. Also the outer layer of each tooth, called the enamel, contains pores that can hold stains.

The most common reasons for yellowing or stained teeth are aging, tobacco, tea and coffee, red wine, curry and eating pigmented foods such as cherries and blueberries which can stain the surface of the teeth.

It is also possible to have stains inside the tooth - which are called instrinsic stains. These instrinsic stains can be caused by exposure to too much fluoride - for example children whose teeth are developing.

Other causes include tetracyline antibiotics taken during pregnancy or given to young children (8 years or younger) when the teeth are still developing.

Get your teeth in perfect shape

The most common type of tooth whitening involves placing a gel-like whitening solution, which usually contains hydrogen peroxides, in a tray that resembles a night guard or mouth guard. After that the tray is placed over the teeth for a certain period of time (1-2 hours or overnight).

You can also contact your dentist for an appointment. In-office whitening (also called chairside whitening) takes between 30 and 90 minutes and can require up to three appointments with your dentist.

Please keep in mind that whitening is not a one-time solution. It will need to be repeated periodically if you want to maintain the brighter color.

Over time your teeth which are exposured to the foods, drinks listed above will gradually darken your newly whitened teeth. But there are steps you can take to maintain your pearly white smile.

You can use a whitening toothpaste to remove surface stains and prevent yellowing or you can brush or rinse immediately after consuming stain-causing beverages or foods.

If you smoke or drink a lot of coffee, you may need a touch up more often.
