a) Regular dental tools
b) Additional dental tools and instruments
Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Get back on the track of routine dental care!
a) If we talk about regular dental tools we mean:
Daily preventive care, including proper brushing and flossing, will help to stop problems before they develop and is much less painful and expensive than treating conditions that have been allowed to progress.
Toothbrush:
Brushing correctly isn't always that easy. It is important that the bristles of your toothbrush remove the plaque without damaging your gums and teeth.
There are different ways to brush teeth, and your dentist or dental hygienist can show you the best method.
The modified Bass technique is among the most popular for adults and is very effective in removing plaque above and below the gum line.
It is suggested to brush slightly just before going to bed. When you sleep, saliva decreases, leaving the teeth more vulnerable to bacterial acids.
Teeth should also be brushed in the morning, either before or after breakfast to remove food particles. It is important that you clean all your teeth while brushing.
The minimum time for brushing should be 2 minutes each time. We recommend to brush your teeth always in the same way that helps patients to brush each area of the mouth correctly. The toothbrush should be changed every three months so that it keeps the ability to clean properly.
Dental Floss:
Flossing is an important tool to keep your gums healty. If you have difficulty with the technique ask your dentist who will teach you.
Flossing can be done any time. The most important thing is to remove all the trapped food debris between the teeth. In fact, you may need to floss one tooth several times using fresh sections of floss.
The most common method is to wind the floss around the middle fingers then pull it and guide it with your index fingers.
Guide the floss gently between two teeth. If the fit is tight, use a back-and-forth motion to work the floss through the narrow spot. Do not snap the floss in or you could cut your gums.
Gently move the floss toward the base of the tooth and up into the space between the tooth and gum.
An up and down movement with light pressure takes off the plaque in that area.
Be careful and do not press so hard that you injure the gum. Repeat for all sides of the tooth.
Additional dental tools and instruments.
Many people have larger spaces between their teeth and need additional tools. These are called Interdental cleaner, which remove food particles and bacterial plaque adequately.
There are small interdental brushes with tiny bristles or filament brushes that can fit between teeth and come in a variety of sizes and handle designs.
It is confirmed that these brushes clean better than floss when the gum tissue does not completely fill the space between your teeth.
These are also recommended to people with orthodontic bands on their teeth to remove bacterial plaque from around the wires and brackets.
There are also Oral irrigators. These electrical devices pump water out in a slim steady or pulsating stream. Although they do not seem to remove plaque that is attached to the tooth well, they are very effective at flushing out food and bacteria.
Mouthwashes and rinses with fluoride - as well as toothpaste are needed for the daily battle of dental health care. They are all good sources of fluoride. Your dentist can prescribe stronger concentrations of fluoride through gels or rinses if you need it.
Fluoride strengthens developing teeth in children and helps prevent decay in adults and children. Everyone can benefit from fluoride!
There is also the salt mouthwash as a home treatment for mouth infections and injuries. It is made by dissolving a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water.

A small ecologic suggestion...
Every day when you brush your teeth you can also contribute a little bit of your help to our earth in not wasting too much water.
Without thinking most of us are used to leave the water tap open while brushing their teeth.
That means that we are wasting unnecessaryly many litres of water.
Take your toothbrush and toothpaste and start brushing your teeth for a few minutes without opening the water tap.
When you are done brushing your teeth just open for a few seconds the water tap in order to rinse your mouth out and clean your toothbrush.
It is very simple and in that way you can help to safe millions of litres, just imagine if everybody does it that way which huge quantity of good water can be safed and used for many other important issues.
